Libertalia maintains diplomatic relationships with a select few micronations, who's values reflect that of Libertalia and who Libertalia considers to be of the top echelon of micronational development.
Macronational Recognition
Below you may find a list of the macronations which Libertalia formally recognizes and those which Libertalia refuses recognition. As with the majority of micronations, these are all considered unilateral, with no macronations currently recognizing Libertalia in the year 2024.
What is a "macronation"?
"Macronation" is a term used within micronationalism to determine a nation which has achieved full independence from another nation, or which is recognized by other macronations as independent, sovereign states.
Macronations
The Republic of Libertalia formally recognizes all members of the United Nations with exception to the following:
Republic of Azerbaijan (for their annexation of the Republic of Artsakh)
Russian Federation (for their illegal invasion of Ukraine)
Peoples Republic of China (Libertalia recognizes the Taiwan as the sole legitimate Chinese government)
Bolivarian Republic of Venezuala (Libertalia refuses recognition due to the actions of the Maduro administration)
Democratic Peoples Republic of North Korea (Libertalia recognizes the Republic of Korea as the sole legitimate Korean government due to North Korean human rights violations and crimes against its citizens)
Republic of Cuba
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Libertalia ceased recognition of Afghanistan following Taliban control over the territory being established)
State of Eritrea
Republic of Belarus (for their support of the Russian Federations invasion of Ukraine and suppression of anti-Lukashenko protests)
The Republic of Libertalia also formally recognizes the following states who are not globally recognized as independent:
The State of Palestine
The Republic of China (Taiwan)
The Republic of Kosovo (Libertalia recognizes Kosovo as an independent state and does not recognize Serbian claims over the region.
